Grace O’Connell is a writer and editor. She is the author of the novels Magnified World (Random House Canada, 2012) and Be Ready for the Lightning (Random House Canada, 2017). Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in publications including The WalrusTaddle Creek, the Globe & Mail, the National Post, the Toronto Star, ELLE Canada, Sharp Magazine for Men, Quill & Quire, and the Journey Prize Stories. She has been nominated for the RBC Bronwen Wallace Award and two National Magazine Awards for fiction, and was the 2014 winner of the Canadian Author Association’s Emerging Writer Award. Grace taught creative writing at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies for ten years, specialises in reviewing children’s and young adult literature for Quill & Quire, and serves as Senior Editor for Open Book. She lives in Tkaronto/Toronto with her husband, son, and cats.
